Explore Georgia Deeply – 11-day tour in Georgia will introduce you to Georgian culture, traditions, nature and historical monuments.

You will see sightseeing in Tbilisi city. Ancient capital and the religious center of Georgia – Mtskheta. Fascinated Kazbegi in which every person falls in love. Cave towns will introduce you ancient sights of Georgia. Region Svaneti is situated on the southern slopes of the central Caucasus Mountains and surrounded by 3,000–5,000 meter peaks, Svaneti is the highest inhabited area in the Caucasus. Four of the 10 highest peaks of the Caucasus are located in the region.

And the last stop will be Batumi – the “Pearl of the Black Sea,” as it is often called – located in the autonomous republic of Adjara. European architects undertook numerous projects in Batumi at the beginning of the 20th century, and today it remains a hub of architectural innovation.

Tour Plan

Day 01 ARRIVE TO TBILISI

Arrival to Tbilisi. Meeting in airport. Transfer to the hotel. Overnight in Tbilisi.

2 Tbilisi sightseeing tour

The city offers a wide variety of sights, most of them very ancient. Starting at the church of Metekhi, we walk to the brick domes of sulfur baths and then on to spectacularly located Narikala’s fortress – one of the oldest fortresses in Georgia, overlooking the Mtkvari river gorge.

Visit Metekhi Church located in the ancient historical district of Metekhi, on the left bank of the Mtkvari River, in old Tbilisi. Metekhi Church of the Nativity of the Virgin Mary is one of the oldest churches built in Tbilisi.

Sulfur baths – Chreli Abano located at the eastern bank of the Mtkvari River at the foot of Narikala fort across Metekhisubani, Abanotubani is an important historic part of the city — the place, where according to a legend the King of Iberia, Vakhtang Gorgasali’s falcon fell, leading to a discovery of the hot springs and, subsequently, to the founding of new capital.

Narikala’s fortress – is nowadays the leading sighting among the most visited places in Tbilisi by tourists. Narikala Fortress draws your attention from all sides of Tbilisi, you can notice it from almost every part of Tbilisi. In Georgian sources, it is called “Mother Fortress”. Narikala offers you some of the best panoramas of the city. This is an ancient symbol of Tbilisi’s defensive brilliance. You will get there by cable car.

Walk on Meidan Square which was an active marketplace in the Great Silk Road period.

Jean Chardin Street -the street was named after the famous French traveler and now it is the most popular place for the citizens and tourists where they can have a rest in bars and restaurants.

After that, we visit the synagogue, and the Sioni and Anchiskhati churches, which mark the end of the Old Town. After we visit the treasury of the National Museum of Georgia (Georgian Archaeology from the 8th millennium B.C.), Visit the holy trinity cathedral, the third biggest church in the world. End of the tour. Free time. Overnight in Tbilisi.

3 Tbilisi –Jvari Monastery- Ananuri – Gudauri -Kazbegi -Tbilisi

On this full-day tour, you will have the opportunity to experience the highlights of Kazbegi – a district in northeastern Georgia known for its mountains, rivers and cultural monuments. You will see the snow-capped peak of Mount Kazbek which will open up an enchanting Georgia.

Jvari Monastery- VI century church and monastery, located in the east of Mtskheta, at the mouth of the river Mtkvari and Aragvi, on the rocky mountain peak. Jvari Monastery is included in the UNESCO World Heritage List. Here there is kept the Robe of Jesus Christ which had been brought from Jerusalem in I c. A true architectural masterpiece of the Early Middle Ages. Built on a hilltop, the views it affords of Mtskheta and the Aragvi and Mtkvari Rivers are breathtaking and great for selfies!

You will drive north towards the Northern Caucasus along the well-known Georgian Military Road

The first stop will be at the Ananuri complex, a former residence of Argveti Dukes. The complex features churches and towers dating back to the 16-17th centuries, beautifully overlooking the Jinvali reservoir. The buildings included in the complex are: upper and lower fortress, fence, towers, Church of the mother of God, Church of the Deity, “Mkurnali” Church, bell tower, octagonal cell, and reservoirs;

Continue our drive to see the conjunction of two small mountain rivers famous for the fact that being different in color they still keep their own colors even after merging.

Continue our incredible tour and now visit the Gudauri Friendship monument, also known as Gudauri Panorama- located 120 KM from Tbilisi, on the Georgian Military Highway connecting to Russia. The monument is very vivid and colorful, however, most of its beauty is thanks to the location. Georgia-Russia Friendship monument is a circular balcony hanging off of a 600-meter cliff with amazing views of the Caucasus Mountains.

Our last stop and the main attraction of the tour is Kazbegi (Stepantsminda) and its amazing Mount Kazbegi, where the Gergeti Trinity Church is built – located at an altitude of 2170 m.

From Kazbegi ride in 4 WD vehicles through beautiful valleys and woods reaching the Gergeti Trinity church. In good weather, you can see one of the highest glaciers in the Caucasus – the mountain Kazbegi at 5047m. Enjoy breathtaking views, take pictures breathe fresh air, and collect lots of emotions. Drive back to Tbilisi. Overnight in Tbilisi.

4 Tbilisi– Mtskheta –Uplistsikhe Cave Town - Borjomi resort –Akhaltsikhe

After breakfast drive Akhaltsikhe region. On the way, we will visit Mtskheta – the old capital of Georgia

Archeological evidence trace human settlement in the area of Mtskheta from the 2nd millennium BC to the early 1st millennium AD.[5] Numerous burials of the Bronze Age (beginning of the 1st millennium BC) prove that Mtskheta already was a significant settlement at that period. Mtskheta was the capital of the early Georgian Kingdom of Iberia from the 3rd century BC to the 5th century AD.

We will visit Svetitskhoveli Cathedral (11th century).

Svetitskhoveli Cathedral – the main patriarchal cathedral of the Georgian Orthodox Church, the Mother Cathedral of Georgia, the place of enthronement (enthronement) of the Georgian Catholicos-Patriarchs, the burial of many kings of Georgia, their family members and patriarchs from the great cathedrals. Monument of Georgian architecture of the XI century, one of the four great cathedrals (Oshki, Bagrati Temple, Alaverdi). Svetitskhoveli is the largest historical church building among the surviving ones in Georgia. It has been the religious center of Christian Georgia for centuries.

Visit Uplistsikhe cave town- in translation Fortress of the Lord is located on the left bank of Mtkvari River and is notable for a unique combination of various styles of rock-cut cultures and the co-existence of pagan and Christian architecture. You will see how people used to live in stone cells, what their households looked like, and even go through the secret tunnel.

The next destination is Borjomi resort. Borjomi is famous for its mineral water industry (which is the number one export of Georgia). You will be able to taste mineral water in Borjomi Park. The most famous and incredible thing about Borjomi is its unique mineral waters that are at least equal to the world’s best. Its natural high purity and healthy chemical components make it not only pleasant to drink but also a perfect preventive and curative against a number of diseases. The water is rich in the most important and necessary micro-elements for life and each spring in the region is characterized by the effect these various properties have on the wildlife. There are hundreds of different springs and each one has its own unique taste and temperature. The water’s curative effects were well known to the locals since ancient times and a stone bathing tub dating back to the 1st century BC was recently found here. Drive to Akhaltsikhe. Overnight in Akhaltsikhe.

5 Akhaltsikhe - Vardzia cave town – Kertvisi fortress- - kutaisi

Explore Samtskhe-javakheti region’s beauty. The first destination is Vardzia Cave town, a very impressive historical-cultural monument, founded in the 12th century, with 13 floors and hundreds of rooms, halls, and churches, a huge complex made of rocks. There once were about 3,000 caves and 50,000 people lived there. You visit the church carved into the rock with amazing frescoes of the 12th century. The monastery has never been restored since then, but in the second half of XIX c every now and then several monks lived there. Some traces of the revival of the monastery live are noticeable even nowadays. Visit Khertvisi Fortress, once destroyed by Alexander the Great. Khertvisi fortress – Middle age castle is located on a tall rocky mountain. Khertvisi was an active fortress during the feudal ages. Khertvisi was reconstructed several times, early middle age building layer is noticeable. The fortress consists of a citadel and a wall. Citadel stands on a narrow, rocky edge of the mountain, it is not approachable from the northeastern side. Water was supplied by a tunnel on the northwestern side.

Continue to drive to Kutaisi- The second largest city in Georgia.

6 Kutaisi – Prometheus cave - Enguri Dam - Mestia

After breakfast drive to explore Prometheus cave – one of Georgia’s natural wonders providing visitors with breathtaking examples of stalactites, stalagmites, curtains, petrified waterfalls, cave pearls, underground rivers, and lakes. There are 22 halls found, where just 6 halls are open for tourists. It is possible to walk through the length of 1420 meters in the cave’s territory visit the halls and enjoy boat tour by walking the river. Discover real masterpieces of nature – stalactites and stalagmites at Prometheus Cave, which are the most beautiful forms created by nature. While visiting the cave, hanging waterfalls are waiting for you.

Continue the way to mysterious Svaneti. At the pass, we will meet the beautiful Enguri Dam. Enguri Dam is the world’s second-highest concrete arch dam. First, we will take a half-an-hour tour of the dam. The panoramic views from the top of the dam and the history of the hulking construction await us. Afterward, we will enjoy a ~50 minutes boat tour on the Enguri River, surrounded by jaw-dropping nature. The length of the tour is 8km both ways. Our last stop is Mestia.  Overnight in Mestia.

7 Mestia – Ushguli – Mestia

After breakfast at the hotel drive to Ushguli village, the highest-standing settlement in Europe (2,200 m). Spend time in Ushguli strolling old narrow streets. Visit the Lamaria Church complex with impressive wall frescos (XII). Locals believe that it was under this church that Queen Tamara was buried. Enjoy the picturesque view of Mt. Shkhara.  There are about 70 families living in Ushguli (around 200 people). Return to Mestia. and overnight at the hotel.

8 Mestia - Martvili Canyon - Batumi

After breakfast we travel from Mestia to the seaside city of Batumi. On the way we will visit Martvili canyon, an amazing place where we can walk on the small trail in a natural canyon of the river Abasha, we can see unique Kolkheti forests flora with impressive waterfalls. The canyon trail is very small and we will walk for about 40 minutes 700 m long stone-paved circular route starts from Martvili Canyon visitor center and crosses the Dadiani historical trail. There are 2 bridges, 3 platform views and historical 30 steps stairs constructed of large limestone boulders. Visitors can enjoy a 300-meter boat tour on river Abasha and beautiful views of the mountain river canyon.

Continue way to Batumi – the pearl of Georgia. Night walk in the beautiful boulevard . You will have dinner and then spend the night at the hotel.

9 Batumi Botanical Garden - Argo Cable Car – black Sea beach

After breakfast in the morning Explore Batumi Botanical Garden which is unique as it contains flora from nine Phyto-geographic areas: East Asia, North America, New Zealand, South America, the Himalayas, Mexico, Australia, the Mediterranean, and the Caucasian humid subtropics. Garden was established in 1912 by the prominent botanist and geographer Andrey Krasnov. The garden collection includes 2037 taxonomic units of plants, including 104 of Caucasian origin.

Argo Cable Car is a sightseeing attraction located on Anuria Mountain in Batumi, 250 meters high from the sea level. The complex offers spectacular views of the town, The Black Sea, and the surrounding mountains. The center comprises in itself restaurants, Gift shops, a Wine House, open-air halls, and a podium. The line is 2 586 meters long, with 20 Cabins. There are 8 seats in each cabin. The one-way trip duration is 10 minutes.

10 Batumi – Park “Georgia in Miniatures’’ – Music Park – Tbilisi

After breakfast, you can enjoy the free morning on the black sea beach and after a drive to Tbilisi. On the way, we will explore the unique park “Georgia in Miniatures’’ which is located in Shekvetili, Black Sea Coast. It reflects Georgian cultural heritage monuments and architecture sightseeing in miniatures. After the incredible miniatures park, you will see also the unique Music Park- At the park territory there are squares, where Georgian and foreign musicians’ statues are situated. Visitors have an opportunity to listen to their beloved musicians’ songs and melodies. Everyone will have a chance to find a musician statue that satisfies his/her tasty. It is a very nice place and must-go destination. Drive to Tbilisi full of Impressions and memories. Overnight in Tbilisi
